Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

1 cup butter
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 pkg chocolate chips
nuts (optional)

Cream butter, peanut butter, and sugars. Add in eggs. Stir in flour and baking soda, then chips and nuts. Drop by teaspoon on cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.

Xena’s notes: The above recipe is the original, but I’ve made little changes. I add a teaspoon of vanilla, use milk chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet, and I never add nuts. I have a friend who adds a pinch of salt, but I usually don’t. I also don’t bake them for the full ten minutes as I like my cookies soft and chewy and not hard and crispy. I usually set the timer for 7 minutes, check to see if they are starting to turn golden brown, if not, bake another minute and so on until desired brownness. If you want them soft and chewy, then take them out of the oven when they first start turning golden brown. If you want them crispy, bake longer.
